'60 Plymouth Sport Fury

1956

Plymouth Fury was presented in 1956
It looked almost like Plymouth Belvedere of that year but had the engine 303 V-8. The only color version offered for the Fury was Sand Dune White. 4,485 cars were produced. Shipping Weight is 3650. Factory price $2807.

In 1957 Fury as Belvedere has got absolutely new exterior.
New engine 318 V-8 with two four barrel carburetors developing 290HP. Push button Torque-Flite automatic transmission. Factory base price $2900 plus options. There were 7,438 cars produced. Shipping Weight is 3595.

1958

In 1958 Fury was called the Car of the year. The '58 Fury (and the Desoto Adventurer) had the first of the Golden Comando engines displacing 350 cu in and developing 305 HP at 5,000 rpm with twin fours and 315 HP with fuel injection. The '58 would do 0-60 in 7.6 secs. There were several color versions. Plymouth Fury
Factory price $3032. Shipping Weight is 3510. There were 5,303 cars produced. Many years later Stephen King have written a book called "Christine" where `58 Plymouth Fury played the leading part.

1959

There was a new model Plymouth Sport Fury with more powerful engine 361 V-8 Golden Commando.
Fury is available as 2dr and 4dr hardtop, 4dr sedan. SportFury is available as 2dr hardtop and convertible.

1960

Plymouth Fury Owing to the restyling the car was subjected to in 1960 the Fury gained more futuristic exterior. Production total 54,215.
In 1960, the original 318 and 383 were available, along with a new
261 slant six, producing 145 hp at 4000 rpm. The 383 produced 330 hp.

More visibly, the grille turned into a "frowning face", with rather unusual styling.

New engine 413 V-8 Wedge developing 375HP. In `61 Chrysler introduced the first alternator. Plymouth Suburban based on Fury as Station Wagon. Plymouth Sport Suburban

1962

In 1962, the Fury gained yet another body style. The limited version TURBO with optional
Golden Commando 305HP got up speed of 60MPH in 8.5 secs.
Fury production 41,427.
SportFury production 5,555.
Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible

1963

A new exterior demonstrated a purity of line what made the car too ordinary. The engines were the 318, 365, 383 and 426 Wedge.

1964

1964 was basically a carry-over year. `64 Fury resembled similar models of Chevrolett and Ford very much but in spite of that Fury looked very lovely. Plymouth Sport Fury

1965

1965 brought more new names: Fury I, Fury II, and Fury III. Fury gained character and vertically stacked, round headlamps. All new Furys got a new 119" wheelbase (121" for the wagons) - one inch more than before. Plymouth Fury III
Plymouth Fury II The 426 "Street Wedge" was introduced, rated at 385 hp but finally street-legal. The 1965 Fury had five engine setups: the 225 slant six, the V-8 318, 383, and the 426 Wedge.

1968

Plymouth Fury III In 1968 Fury was renewed again. I think the style of `68 was the best for Fury with vertically stacked headlamps. The car looks very aggressively and sporty.
Transmissions were 3 speed manual, four speed manual, and 3 speed Torqueflite automatic. The 383 Magnum with 4 speed transmission was available. Plymouth Sport Fury FastBack
Plymouth Custom Suburban Available engines were the 225 slant six, 318, 383 Commando (2 barrel), 383 Super Commando (4 barrel and "special cam" per the dealer brochure), or the 4-barrel Super Commando 440.

1969

Plymouth Fury III Completely new Plymouth Fury!!!
New fuselage style. The car looks much bigger than it is in fact. The wheelbase was 120 inches, 1.5 inches longer than in 1968. 15 inch wheels where standard.

Plymouth SportFury S/23 The family of Sport Fury has got a new baby -
the model Sport Fury S/23. Concealed headlamps and full-loop bumpers were introduced. Anti-theft ignition switch.

The 70's Sport Fury GT Engine was offered with two engiens: optional were the 440 sixpack, 390HP with air, or 350HP 440. Only 666 GT's were produced. The sticker price was $5776.

Plymouth SportFury GT Sport Fury GT was the rarest Fury of them all. 375 were built in 1971.

1972

New grill gave Fury an view of alien from another world. Introduction of a 400 cid V-8 (bored 383), the 360 (enlarged 318) was brought in, replacing earlier performance engines. Appeared such upper level models the Fury Gran Sedan and Fury Gran Coupe.

1974 became last year, when the name Fury belonged to full-sized car.

In 1975 , Chrysler face lifted the slow selling B-body Satellite line and renamed in "Fury" in hope of enhancing it's image. Plymouth Fury Salon

The station wagon models was still available for 1975.

The 2-door middle-sized car looked rather like an expensive car than like Plymouth Fury. Never less the car looks quite not bad.

1977 was the last year for the
full-size Gran Fury line until the
four-door sedan of 1980.
This was the last year the big 440 V8 engine was available.

1980

Plymouth GranFury GranFury was relaunched in 1980 on the year old
"R" body platform of the full-sized Chrysler. Under the skin, it was just the old Fury/Satellite B-body,
and employed little new engineering.
It was larger than either the new downsized Chevy Caprice or Ford LTD.

1981

Plymouth GranFury Only 4dr sedan offered. But sales were very bad, and the next year the car was rejected.

1982

Plymouth GranFury In 82, the M-body Gran Fury was born to a changing market. It itself was a restyled derivative of the F-body Volare-Aspen.

Plymouth GranFury In eightieth GranFury was even more smaller than earlier. GranFury was widely used by police. These cars wasn't popular among common people.
